Good morning scholars,
Peer Helpers is a program which is designed on the school-based mental health model. The program works not only through a group of students but also through all educators to build a positive school climate and culture. Peer Helpers Programs are active in many schools throughout the state and nation, so we are thrilled to begin this new adventure on our campus. If you are interested, please pick up an application in the office or print one from the school website. Applications are due to Mrs. Willliams or Mrs. Tucker by October 20th.

Per guidance of the WCPSS Superintendent Dr. Andre’ Saulsberry:
Attention Parents and Guardians of WCPSS,
Below are the revised WCPSS updates as of today October 6, 2021.
On Thursday, October 7th and Friday, October 8, 2021, students will work from home. On Thursday, October 7th, we will be working expeditiously to process and inventory over 400 personal computers to make them available to the students who do not have computers yet.
On Friday, we will have a cleaning day in which all of our system schools will be sanitized. This is in addition to the daily sanitizing that we conduct.
As far as confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Wilcox County Public School System, we have a total of 22 consisting of one adult and 21 students, which has been uploaded to the Alabama Department of Health and the Alabama Department of Education.
We thank you for always being concerned about your children as we work as a team. However, we think it is imperative that you are provided with accurate and correct information versus hearsay.
Monday, October 11 will be a professional development day. We look forward to seeing all of our students return on Tuesday, October 12, 2021.
Thank you all for your feedback from the progress reports. Let us continue to teamwork so that we can make the dream work for all students.
Please contact your child’s school if there are any questions or concerns.

Attention parents and scholars,
Wilcox Central High School is partnering with Alabama‐based Cash for College to support our students and parents seeking financial aid for college, including academic and technical programs at two-year and four-year schools. If your student is a senior and plans to attend college next fall, the FAFSA is the first step to receiving financial aid to pay for college.
The FAFSA is a key step for any student who plans to attend college and is seeking federal and state financial aid, including grants and loans. It is a free online application which requires applicable financial information for both the student and the parent(s) of dependent students.
Completion of the FAFSA qualifies eligible students for federal grants, including the Pell Grant of up to $6,495 per year. Pell Grants are a form of gift aid that does not have to be repaid. Information submitted on the FAFSA is often used by colleges and universities when determining merit and need‐based scholarship awards.
To assist with FAFSA completion, Wilcox Central High School will host a FAFSA completion workshop to provide tips and answer questions regarding the application on October 5th at 3:00.
If we report an increase in FAFSA completion at the end of FAFSA season, Cash for College will honor these successes with a celebration event and grant awards to recognize schools with the greatest improvement in FAFSA completion.
