The Drive-Thru College fair on the Thomasville campus will be held March 9th from 4-6! There will be a variety of different colleges from Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida. Students of all grade levels are encouraged to attend. I have attached the flyer with the updated dates. The registration form for the fair is the QR code on the flyer. Once you scan the code, it will take you directly to the registration form!
Good morning eleventh grade scholars/parents
All eleventh grade scholars will take the ACT with Writing test March 9-11 and March 16. The ACT is the capstone of ACT College and Career Readiness Solutions, and it is aligned to Alabama's College and Career Readiness Standards. The ACT with Writing is administered to all Grade 11 students enrolled in Alabama public high schools. The ACT is accepted by all four-year colleges and universities in the United States.

Scholars, you are not allowed to take anything into the testing area. This means no cell phones, bookbags, purses, etc. Pencils will be provided for you. If you have a calculator and wish to bring it, it must be an ACT approved calculator.
To ensure that we are maximizing the ability to social distance during the exam, students will take this test in groups of 30 at WCHS. Students will be required to wear masks. Temperatures will be checked prior to entering the building. Wilcox Central High School will be following CDC guidelines with social distancing and disinfecting. However, if you can answer yes to any of these questions, please stay at home:
Have you been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past week?
Have you been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19?
Are you experiencing a cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat?
Have you had a fever in the last 48 hours?
Have you had a new loss of taste or smell?
Have you had vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours?
Are you currently waiting for results from a COVID-19 test?
Students should report to WCHS no later than 7:30 on the day of test. Please be on time. This test will last a couple of hours. Eat a good healthy breakfast. Snacks will be provided.

Shelton State Community College Scholarship:
The deadline for Institutional and Foundation scholarships is today, March 1, 2021. To apply for scholarships, students must complete an online application. Students must use their myShelton email address to apply. The myShelton email address is assigned upon completion of the online admission application. The Gilmore Law Firm is offering you the opportunity to win a college scholarship to help further your education. Our firm will offer seven $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors in Clarke and Wilcox Counties and who plan to attend a two or four-year institution of higher learning in the fall. Selection of the recipients is based on the creative entry, school activities, positions of leadership, special honors and awards, community involvement, academic performance, and professional pursuits.
HOW TO APPLY
Applicants are required to submit the following materials along with their scholarship packet or online application form:
A current high school transcript with a minimum 2.5 GPA
A personal photograph
One teacher or counselor recommendation (can be submitted via e-mail)
A creative entry regarding how to reduce or eliminate injuries from automobile crashes involving distracted driving.
Entries may include, but are not limited to, an essay, poem, painting, poster, video, audio recording, web page or other creative entry. The more creative, the better. Essays should be limited to 500 words, but are not required to be 500 words in length. Video/audio recordings should be limited to two minutes. All creative entries must be uploaded along with the rest of your application. Entries will not be returned to the applicant.
