FAFSA Fact Friday

It’s Free App Week! Colleges across the country are participating in Free App Week this week, and The University of Alabama and UA Early College are too. UA Early College will offer free applications to potential UA Early College students during this time. In order to have the application fee waived during Free App Week, students should complete and submit the UA Early College Application. (Important! The UA Early College application is separate from the Undergraduate Admissions application, but both are free during Free App Week). Please have students and families carefully read the instructions on our website for the UA Early College fee waiver. They must request the Free App Week fee waiver before 4:45pm Central Time on Friday, October 22, 2021. Please note: we are unable to refund application fees once they have been paid. Upcoming Application Deadlines Students who apply by Friday, Oct. 22 can complete the UAEC 200 course this fall and begin taking other UA courses in the spring. This is the last chance to apply and take a Full Spring course! Students who apply by Jan. 3 can complete the UAEC 200 course in early spring and begin taking other UA courses in the Spring II term. Who Can Apply? High school students who have completed 9th grade and have a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale). Seniors can participate in UA Early College through the summer after high school graduation.

Red Ribbon Week is October 25-29, 2021

This week is college application week. High school seniors throughout Alabama will have an opportunity to apply to colleges in the state as well as in nearby states without having to pay the application fees. FAFSA FACTS

Wilcox Central High School scholars attended a leadership conference at The University of West Alabama on October 12th. Scholars were presented with $2,500 scholarships renewable for four years. Congratulations scholars!

All twelfth grade scholars will take the ACT Workkeys test October 25-26, 2021. The assessments measure foundational skills required for success in the workplace, and help measure the workplace skills that can affect job performance. Individuals who successfully complete the three WorkKeys assessments—Applied Math, Graphic Literacy, and Workplace Documents—earn the WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate® (WorkKeysNCRC®), a valuable credential for students and job seekers seeking to verify foundational workplace skills.
