Virtual Learning Updates
• WCPSS will transition to virtual learning January 12th - January 21st.
• ALL scholars are expected to log in to Google classroom or ICEV each class period (with cameras on).
• ALL scholars MUST complete and submit assignments and/or tests.
• WCHS will remain on its regular bell schedule (see below)

Eligibility Center Webinar for College Bound Student Athletes
Encourage your student-athletes to join the NCAA Eligibility Center on Tuesday, Jan. 11, at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time for our webinar for college-bound student-athletes and their families. Students will learn about the latest initial-eligibility news, requirements they must meet to be ready when they get to campus, and the best resources for them as they pursue their dreams of studying and competing at an NCAA Division I or II school.

The Simpson Foundation Scholarship
The 2022-2023 Simpson Foundation Scholarship application is now available, and the deadline for applying is March 1, 2022. Applications will not be accepted after the March 1st deadline.
The application is located at www.thesimpsonfoundation.org. Once there,you will click on the ‘Click Here for 2022 Application’ link and completely fill out the form. (Please know that N/A is not an acceptable answer.) Once you have completed the application, you will need to click the ‘Submit Your Application’ button. If you do not click ‘Submit Your Application’, your application will not be sent to the Simpson Foundation. You will receive an email from the Simpson Foundation confirming receipt of your application. If you do not receive an email confirmation, the Foundation did not receive your application.

Please note the correction: *Edgenuity will end on January 14th for the 1st Semester.

9th grade scholars must complete requirements for Kinesiology A and English 9.
Parents please log in to your scholar's Powerschool and Edgenuity account to check their academic progress. Contact the school if you need further assistance.

WCHS Athletic Department Updates:
The basketball game scheduled for Saturday, January 8th with WCHS vs Clarke Co @ Clark Co has been cancelled. It will be rescheduled for a later date.
Tonight's game against Jackson will start at 5:00p. Only 400 tickets will be sold at the door. Masks are mandatory and can be purchased for $1 if you do not have one upon entering the building.

Due to safety precautions, the maximum occupancy in the gym for WCHS basketball games will be 400.
All CDC/Covid-19 Public Health Protocols will be followed as WCHS will strictly enforce mask requirements. Masks may be purchased for $1 at the door, if needed.
*Reminder: ALL students K-8th grades, MUST be accompanied by an adult 18 or order to enter athletic events.

Happy New Year from the WCPSS! All Wilcox County students will return to school on tomorrow, January 4, 2022. Our mandatory mask regulation is still in place. Please be sure to check backpacks for items that may need to be discarded, and replenish supplies as necessary.
Please note, If your child is showing any symptoms related to Covid-19, or he or she has been exposed to someone positive, we ask that you do not send
them to school at this time. Please contact your child's school nurse if your child has tested positive, showing symptoms, or has came in close contact with someone who is positive. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and update you as information because more available. Our first priority is the safety of the school body, and we look forward to providing a safe and productive learning environment for the remainder of the school year.

Happy New Year! Wilcox Central High School Jaguars basketball teams will be back in action tomorrow (January 4th @4:30pm) versus the J.F. Shields Panthers. Tickets will be available at the door.

Wilcox Central High School is offering Extended Day services for any high school scholar who is at risk, failing or need enrichment on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 3:15p-5:15p. Please encourage your son and/or daughter to attend this program, if needed, to improve their academic progress.

NAACP Foot Soldiers Scholarship


The Alabama NAACP Foot Soldiers Scholarship is a need-based scholarship opportunity open to graduating Alabama seniors who choose to enroll at an Alabama college or university. Letter of acceptance is required. The Foot Soldiers who marched from Selma to Montgomery developed a quintessential blueprint for people in Alabama and worldwide to have unfettered access to the political process, the educational process, the economic process, the employment process, and the housing process.
Deadline to apply for the Foot Soldiers Scholarship is January 10, 2022.

DELTA GEM applications are now available.
This application is for any young ladies who can benefit from some positive fellowship and encouragement. This program fosters self-growth and development.
Girls grades 9-12 are accepted. The application deadline is December 17, 2021.
Applications are available in the front office.

2022 Coolidge Scholarship application is now live.
A quick refresher: the Coolidge Scholarship is a full-ride, four-year, merit scholarship that may be used by recipients for undergraduate study at any accredited college or university in the United States. Any high school junior who plans to enroll in college in the fall of 2023 and is an American citizen or legal permanent resident is eligible to apply (current high school seniors are not eligible to apply). Winners may use the scholarship to pursue any academic major.
The scholarship application, along with additional information, can be accessed on our scholarship site: www.coolidgescholars.org.

New student registration for dual enrollment classes through Wallace Community College is now open for the spring semester.
