Congratulations to Christen Dunning and Isaish Love! They were selected to represent Wilcox Central HS and WCPSS on the Pioneer Electric Youth Tour. Both scholars had the opportunity to take part in individual interviews yesterday in Greenville, AL. We are super proud of them on their accomplishments!

WCHS Instructional Leadership TEAM had the opportunity to meet and collaborate with APlus College Readiness to complete the second phase of the application and partnership process. The leadership TEAM has been invited to complete the last step of Cohort 16.

the recent ACT WorkKeys Assessment. ACT WorkKeys is a test designed to assess student’s ability to demonstrate their knowledge necessary to perform various tasks in the workplace. The Ron Brown Scholar Program scholarship application final deadline is approaching. Applications may be obtained from our website and submitted online at www.ronbrown.org. Our final application deadline for this academic year is January 9, 2023.
RON BROWN SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY:
Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to apply for the Ron Brown Scholar Program provided you meet the following requirements:
Must be Black/African American.
Must excel academically.
Must exhibit exceptional leadership potential.
Must participate in community service activities.
Demonstrate financial need.
Be a US citizen or hold a permanent resident visa card.
Be a current high school senior at the time of your application.

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible for this scholarship:

Planning to enroll in an Alabama eligible educational institution in fall 2023
Demonstrate financial need
Have a minimum GPA of 2.75
Have an ACT score of 26 or below
(applicants attending a two-year school will not be required to submit ACT scores)
Award Details
Awards of $4,000 for four-year college enrollees and $2,000 for two-year college enrollees.
Award is one-time, non-renewable and granted on a semester basis in the first academic year.

Horatio Alger Scholarship
Award: $25,000
Eligibility:
Must be a U.S. high school junior.
Must exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States.
Must demonstrate critical financial need.
Must be involved in co-curricular and community service activities.
Must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA.
Deadline: March 15, 2023

Good morning scholars,
This is a reminder that dual enrollment registration at Wallace Community College is open for the Spring 2023 term.
Requirements for new students:
1. Be in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade
2. Have 2.0 Cumulative Unweighted GPA for technical/ have 2.5 Cumulative Unweighted GPA for academic courses
3. Complete Application for Admission
4. Complete DE Approval form with parents and counselor
5. Submit copy of photo ID (to counselor)
6. Submit copy of ACT scores if taking English or Math courses (to counselor)
For returning dual enrollment students, the only dual enrollment paperwork that is required is the completed Statement of Eligibility form and the Program Agreement Form.
The deadline to submit applications and all paperwork is December 9th.
