PreACT offers sophomores an early experience with ACT test items, provides a predicted ACT test score, and offers a wealth of information to help students get the start they need to be college ready. See testing schedule below:

WCHS senior scholars ended Alabama College Application Week by attending a college fair at Coastal Alabama Community College.

WCHS Senior Scholars kicked off Alabama College Application Week today. Scholars have until Friday to apply to colleges for free.

WCHS will participate in Alabama College Application Week Campaign sponsored by Alabama State Department of Education October 16-20, 2023.
The goal of the program is to get more students applying to Alabama colleges early in their senior year. During this event, students may apply to any of the Alabama community colleges, independent colleges, and public universities and colleges in neighboring states in which they are interested for free.

WCHS sophomore and junior scholars attended a leadership conference at The University of West Alabama today. Each scholar received a scholarship in the amount of $2,500.00 for four years to attend the university after graduating high school. It's always good to see WCHS alumus Lapaul Blackmon.

We share a responsibility to ensure your child is on track for college and career readiness.
With PreACT®, you can get useful information to help your child choose the right high school courses, think about ways to work on areas for improvement, and even begin discussions about their college and career interests. This year, we’ve chosen to administer the PreACT® as one of the first actionable steps your sophomores can take to become ready for college and plan for the future.
We are providing 10th grade scholars with the PreACT on October 24-26, 2023 during regular school hours.
We’re confident your child will do their best. This is an opportunity to see your student’s potential performance on the ACT® test. To learn more about the test, visit act.org/preact or call our office at 334-682-2032. More information will be provided later.

Wilcox Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassador applications are available in the front office. Applicants must be in grades 10-12. Applications are due Friday, September 1st.

Note that we have an earlier deadline this year!

We would like to congratulate the following members of our faculty that completed Year 1 of APlus training. These educators attended 4 days of intense hands-on training in Trussville, AL with some of the best educators across the state of Alabama. These faculty members are: Mr. Jeffrey Dean (Government/Economics & College Board), Ms.Clanlethia Johnson (AP ELA Seminar), Mr. Thomas Betts (History), Mrs. Tucker (AP Biology), Mrs. Shelisa Thompson (Algebra 2 and AP Pre-Cal), Ms. Cristy Johnson (Algebra 1), Mrs. Forrestine Talton (Geometry), and Ms. Lizze Thompson (AP Computer Science Principles).
